F.O.R.
Community Center Open House – A Ribbon Cutting Event!
Friends of the River San Bernard are happy to announce that we have a new “home”
on the river. To introduce this home to everyone, the entire Community is
cordially invited to celebrate the house warming of the Friends Of the River San
Bernard Community Center 20450 C.R. 510B, Holiday Shores Subdivision, with a
ribbon cutting ceremony, officiated by the Brazoria Chamber of Commerce, on
Friday, November 9th.
The Open
House will be held from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. -
to accommodate as many people
as possible. While the Open House will officially end at 7 p.m.
-
visiting time will be
extended, per F.O.R. members requests,- for a couple of hours to accomodate
those who cannot meet the 3 p.m.-7 p.m. time frame.
The F.O.R. Community Center house warming will begin with a ribbon cutting
ceremony when the doors of the Community Center will open wide to accommodate
the honored guests of the day – the community.
A representative from Congressman Ron Paul's office will be on hand to present a
U.S. flag to the new Friends Of the River Community Center. Guests can tour the
newly renovated building and grounds acquired from the Brazoria Lions Club,
who deserve a special THANK YOU for making the Community Center dream a reality.
While touring the facility, friends of the river are invited to enjoy food and
soft drinks and visit for a while.
Please bring your lawn
chairs, as inside seating is limited.
The Community Center consists of a building (complete with a kitchen, bathrooms
and a great room), a 1.2 acre park, a parking lot area, a playground, outdoor
benches and picnic tables, and a dock. F.O.R. will use the facility to hold
Board, Committee and public meetings, boat parade award dinners and other
community F.O.R. functions. The center can also be rented for business meetings
and corporate affairs, weddings and rehearsal dinners, showers, family reunions,
retirement and anniversary celebrations and other community functions.
The Community Center was acquired August 1, 2007 and since then, a lot of paint,
carpet, electrical wiring, tile, lighting, air conditioning, yard work, dock
work, soap, sweat, blood and tears were spent, to make this Community Center
something to be proud of. Most of the work, and a lot of the materials, were
donated by members of Friends Of the River and the surrounding communities- and
whether they were large or small contributions– they were all important.
Nothing can be complete without all the parts working together.
F.O.R.’s
“house” is finally in order, so come by car - or come by boat !
Come and enjoy the Friends Of the River "House Warming" on November 9th
This weeks
work plans include lawn maintenance, (early Tuesday morning) food, drink and
dessert preparations.
