Bernard
Acres Residents Support Friends Of the River
At the annual meeting of Bernard Acres
Civic Club, members voted to support
Friends Of the River San Bernard, by
purchasing banners or flags and prominently
displaying them.
The San Bernard River feeds the Bernard
Acres turning basin and canals. Members
agreed that flying the flags was the best
way to show appreciation of F.O.R.'s efforts
to open the mouth of the San Bernard River
and to promote a clean, healthy, free
flowing river. A few members have
volunteered to contact government officials,
expressing their individual concerns.
The Bernard Acres subdivision, developed
in 1954, is located on the San Bernard River
just south of the FM 2611/Sportsmans Span
Bridge and Las Playas. It is a small
community of homes. The Bernard Acres
Civic Club was organized by property
owners in 1986 and has been active in the
community since then.
