Fishing Guide Randall
Groves
to Speak at F.O.R. Community Center Lecture Series
Friends Of the River San Bernard announces the second in
their bi-monthly free community lecture/workshop series.
Friday, April 18 local professional fishing guide Randall
Groves will be presenting a workshop on fishing techniques
to help us all be more successful in our "fish wishes" just
as the spring fishing season is heating up. The workshop
will take place at the F.O.R Community Center (20450 C.R.
510 B in the Holiday Shores Subdivision, Brazoria) from 7
p.m. until 9 p.m. The doors of the Community Center will
open at 6 p.m. to provide plenty of time to visit with your
neighbors before the presentation begins.
Randall Groves will speak on wade
fishing techniques for Speckled Trout, Flounder and Redfish
along Brazoria County's shorelines. He will also discuss the
proper rods and reels to use when wade fishing for that
giant Red or Sow Trout. Bring your favorite hooks and line
as well because he also plans to cover knots that will
improve your fish hook-ups. With the mouth of the San
Bernard again totally closed Randall may be able to show you
just the right technique to take advantage of the very
pristine beach that now clogs the San Bernard River mouth.
Captain
Randall Groves is a professional Fishing Guide who owns
Groves Guide out of Angleton Texas. He specializes in
helping fishermen navigate through some of Texas' most
scenic bayous and marshes in search of the big "salt water
three". He is an expert fisherman using both artificial and
live baits. He has spent years studying the feeding and
migration patterns of Texas' most sought after game fish.

Captain Groves also has a connection to the San Bernard
River and Friends Of the River San Bernard. Years ago,
F.O.R.'s Community Center Chairman Captain Pat "Mooch" Webb
took a, then teen-aged Randall, on his first offshore
fishing trip - Randall says that trip helped inspire him to
become a professional fishing guide.
His
mission according to his web site is:
"To provide you with memories that will last a
lifetime."
The Friends Of the River Community Center was acquired in
August 2007 for the use of the community and to host F.O.R.
Events. Subjects of interest to the community will be
planned for the third Friday of every other month. Some
months and times will be adjusted to best serve the event
being presented or to avoid conflict with other scheduled
events -so continue to monitor www.sanbernardriver.com for
more information. Future lecture topics will include but not
be limited to such things as boating safety and etiquette,
fish identification, an ice cream social, story telling
about the early days on the river and an afternoon jam
session by our local musicians. The F.O.R. Community Center
Committee hopes that everyone will take advantage of the
wonderful meeting place and visit every chance they get.
This is just another way to give back to the community. None
of this would be possible without you.
Refreshments will be provided by the Community Center
committee members and F.O.R. Volunteers. If you would like
to help, with refreshments, or need more information please
contact Pat Webb at 979-964-4503 or
pat@sanbernardriver.com. Please see Community Center Tab
above for a map to the center and other information.

One of F.O.R.'s
primary functions is to educate the public
regarding the issues concerning the San Bernard
River and it's Communities. Contact Pat Webb
