Most of you know me as "Teresa's Mom Ann" and from the F.O.R. breakfasts and various F.O.R. events that I have helped with in the past couple of years. I live just outside of Sweeny, on F.M. 524.
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends at "Coffee-Time" -and gardening. I have a son Aaron and
daughters, Jeana and Teresa and 4 grandchildren.

Several of you have visited my home at Christmas time...and everyone is welcome. It is decorated every year, from top to bottom, inside and out - with lots of lights- and my Santa collection, which fills every room. My husband, Bob, was "The Santa" in Brazoria County for many years, until his passing in 1999. Continuing the Christmas traditions that he and I started together has helped keep these memories alive for our family.
I am proud to have been chosen as Friends Of the River's Member of the Month for June. I enjoy all of my new F.O.R. Friends and love every minute I spend on the San Bernard River.

Trail leading to largest Live Oak in Texas

A Giant in the Woods

On April 7th, 2003 the Texas Forest Service presented the San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge with the Champion Tree Certificate for the largest known Live Oak tree in the State of Texas. The impressive giant surpassed the previous champion from Goose Island State Park.

The tree circumference measured 386 inches with a height of 67 feet. The average crown spread is 100 feet. The tree is located in one of the bottomland units (San Bernard Wildlife Refuge) of the Austin Woods Conservation Partnership Project.

Visitors can enjoy an exciting experience while walking the 3/4 mile trail to the observation platform in front of the San Bernard Oak. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, and bring water and bug repellent. Access to the trail is controlled in order to minimize disturbance to the tree. .

One of F.O.R.'s primary functions is to educate the public regarding the issues concerning the San Bernard River and it's Communities. Contact Pat Webb pat@sanbernardriver.com to schedule a guest speaker for your group or special event.
