Lovely San Bernard
By F.O.R. San Bernard Member

There’s a song about the rivers in Texas
But they left out the San Bernard
It’s really a lovely river
But today it's flowing thru my back yard.

There’s something bout this river
And this is how the story goes
The river is certainly not female
Because its mouth is definitely closed.

San Bernard, you’re a grand old river
Not to love you would be very hard
You’re home to fishing boats and barges
But I wish you’d stay out of my yard.

There are fishing docks up and down the river
Most of them relatively new
Cause the river keeps taking them in pieces
And there’s nothing you can really do.

You can’t stop a river from flowing
You can’t make it do what you wish
You just have to sit back and enjoy it
And maybe catch an occasional fish.

Oh, San Bernard you’re a grand old river
Not to love you would be very hard
You’re home to fishing boats and barges
But I wish you’d stay out of my yard.
