The permanent Board of Directors will be comprised
of no more than fifteen persons. Each year, five
positions on the board rotate off and their
positions will be up for vote. Only one family
member can serve on the board, or run for an open
board position. Each board member may only serve two
consecutive terms - or a maximum of six years - and
then must vacate the position for at least one year
before being eligible to serve on the board for a
third time.
Board candidates do not have to live on the river to
be considered for election.
Candidates for election must, however, be
interviewed and qualified by the Nominating
Committee. The Nominating Committee is made up of
the Nomination Chairman, committee volunteers, and
the retiring members of the current Board.
The Nominating Committee will contact the potential
nominees for election to determine their individual
capabilities and goals for the F.O.R. San Bernard
organization and willingness to fulfill the
commitments and responsibilities of a board member.
The cut off date for nominations is
August 18th
which allows the Nominating Committee sufficient
time to qualify each candidate, and add them to the
ballot for the September election.
Now is the time to be thinking of your choice for
board nominations. This is YOUR chance to be
more involved in F.O.R. San Bernard. If you are
interested in serving on the board, or if you know
someone who would be interested in serving,
submit their name and contact information to the
Nominating Committee.

Once all of the candidates are identified, a
questionnaire will be sent to them, and based on
their answers, a web post will be created, to allow
a preview of the qualified candidates. A ballot for
the election will be developed, and will be handed
out for voting, at the September 6th election. You
must be present to vote.
Each qualified nominee will be given the opportunity
to speak to the audience and tell why they feel they
should be elected to serve on the Board of
Directors. Those persons obtaining the most votes
will become the five new board members.
So think about your choices now-
This is
your opportunity to elect YOUR Friends Of the River
Board of Directors!
