Holiday boat parade set

The 21st Annual San
Bernard River Christmas Boat Parade and Home
Decorating Contest will be Saturday.
The boat parade begins at dusk at the FM 521
bridge and ends at the Las Playas boat ramp.
First- through third-place plaques will be
given to boats in three categories:
• up to 17 feet
• 17 feet, 1 inch to 24 feet
• 24 feet, 1 inch and larger
Residents who live on the river between the
FM 521 bridge and the Las Playas boat ramp
may enter the decorating contest.
Entrants should light up their homes Friday
for a photographer to take pictures. Judging
will take place Saturday night. First-
through third-place plaques will be given in
two categories:
• river frontage of up to 100 feet
• river frontage 101 feet and longer
There is no entry fee to participate in
either contest.
Winners of both contests will be announced
at noon Sunday at an awards dinner at the
home of Nelson and Vanessa Taylor, 2909 CR
604. The decorating crew of each entry will
be served a barbecue dinner.
Entrants should attend a captains’ meeting
at 7 p.m. today at Dido’s Restaurant,2922 CR
519, to receive entry numbers and final
details.
